Open Source and extremely powerful Collaborative Chat based on Riot Matrix is an alternative to MS Teams and available in the new GoFAST version 3.8.

Microsoft Teams (replacing Skype for Business) is more like a Slack, ultimately the "real-time" extension of an ESN. Since 2010 CEO-Vision has noted that a working tool must be essentially "Document Centric" and not "Conversation Centric" for real gains (productivity, reduction of errors, savings ...).

Our feedback of the Chat and ESN deployments in large structures shows the scattering of exchanges on parallel "channels" and the lack of integration with the documentary part: comments left in a tool are not included in the other, problems with sharing and access to information (either too open or too closed), histories and versions of documents, notifications ...

However, 2 types of tools can be complementary, so the question is: "How to integrate them to facilitate collaborative work, instead of scattering?"

Chat and Web-conference + Documents + Processes and Tasks + Sovereignty and Open Source = what additional value?

Chat 100% integrated with GoFAST Digital Workplace

Integration of Riot Matrix technology into the GoFAST Collaborative DMS platform brings real additional value, compared to a Chat that would be parallel to document management.

A Chat tool "isolated" from the rest of the IS is often useful for reduction of internal emails, but brings a big risk of information dispersion, even a loss of productivity. Users often have to juggle between the file server, mail, web conferencing tools, cloud storage… besides, it is difficult to follow discussions in a parallel chat room.

The new GoFAST Chat offers the key advantages that allow to combine collaborative work instead of "scattering" of information:

  • No need to create a chat room by hand and add members into it: because each GoFAST Collaborative Space (where the documents, tasks are located ...) has its special room, automatically created.
  • Thus first chat rooms are attached to the Projects, Services and Directions of the organization, offering users a structured and clear working context.
  • Users only access the chat rooms of their Collaborative Spaces, guaranteeing the correct access rights.
  • It's easy to switch from a chat room to documents, folders, or shared tasks in your Collaborative Space.
  • With one click it is possible to launch a web conference from Chat with an automatic message in the chat room.
  • Documents are securely shared in a chat room (clear list of members) and via URL links. Never attachments to avoid duplicates and version errors.

With this new integrated Chat: "I know where I am, I know where my documents, tasks and all the exchanges with my colleagues are and finally when I share content, I know who has access to it".

Secure Data on a dedicated platform or Sovereign SaaS

There is no doubt that sensitive information and documents can be conveyed on group discussion tools. A weak point for all non-sovereign Cloud tools such as Slack and MS-Teams.

Digital independence and sovereignty is a major topic if we want to secure and control our data, and avoid any intrusion by a foreign government. As a reminder, the Cloud Act voted in the spring of 2018 allows, under certain conditions and in the case of an alleged serious crime, the seizure and / or interception of data stored outside the United States, by American police forces.

GoFAST Collaborative Digital Workplace (with all its Open Source "bricks") is offered either OnPremise (in the customer's IS) or in sovereign SaaS to meet the requirements in terms of data security. Thus, all documents and exchanges remain on the customer's internal servers (if OnPremise) or on the servers of the sovereign hosting partner (Datacenter in France).

Unlike GAFAM datacenters in France, especially Microsoft for its Office365 / SharePoint / Teams offer, the sovereignty of GoFAST allows you to protect your data from the Cloud Act.

In addition to the use of a dedicated server, the network encryption for the GoFAST web conference (integrated Jitsi meet technology) provides a very high level of security from start to finish. An important and topical subject following the latest scandal around the Zoom solution (more information here).
