What does SecNumCloud mean?
SecNumCloud is a qualification issued by ANSSI (the French National Cybersecurity Agency) that guarantees a very high level of security and trust for cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
It is intended for both businesses and public administrations that want to ensure their most sensitive data is protected, hosted, and managed exclusively in Europe.
The guarantees of SecNumCloud
- Enhanced data protection: security above international standards (ISO 27001).
- Sovereignty: data hosted within the European Union, operated by European personnel.
- Trust: regular audits carried out by independent organizations.
- Official recognition: qualification granted directly by ANSSI.
And in Europe, how does it work?
Each country adopts its own cloud security frameworks. Here is a simplified comparison:
Country | Framework | Specificity |
---|---|---|
France | SecNumCloud (ANSSI) | Highest level of security and sovereignty for sensitive data |
Germany | C5 (BSI) | Recognized security standard, based on ISO 27001 |
Belgium | ISO 27001 / NIS2 | No dedicated national qualification, awaiting the European scheme |
Netherlands | BIO (Public Sector Security Baseline) | Mandatory standard for public administration, optional cloud addendum |
European Union | EUCS (in preparation) | Future common European cloud certification scheme |
